What a spectacular kick-off we had to our program on Tuesday! Sixteen motivated, eager readers descended upon the library to learn about the history of the Olympics, a bit of mythology, animal Olympics, and even a little conversational Greek! After making our tunics, we did not travel to the park for our races due to the heat, but races we had nonetheless! Two teams battled for victory in our Relay Race: The Green Team, comprised of: Oliva Throener (Captain), Ava Rose Phelps, Stuart Wisnieski, Max McAtee, Jacob Lass, Isabella McAtee, Nyome Harding, and Oliver Belina pitted themselves against The Purple Team, comprised of: Connor Kreikemeier (Captain), Danielle Haas, Braxton Wisnieski, Miah Throener, Owen Schnoor, Addison McAtee, Noemi Zamora, and Isabel Belina. But as in all events, there can only be one winner. The Purple Team won the Relay and were decorated with red ribbons around their heads and wrists (like they did in the original Olympic events!) by me, the Hellanodikos (judge). We had a great Olympic snack, and I do believe a good time was had by all. Stay tuned for more updates on the Snyder Library First Olympiad!
