Community Needs Survey

To be eligible for state funding and related grants, the Stromsburg Public Library must be an accreditated library through the Nebraska Library Commission. This accreditation is renewed every three years through a detailed application process.

Part of that application process is to conduct a community survey to assess needs and see if the library can provide assistance in any way.

We would so appreciate your help with this process by taking a couple minutes of your time to fill out this online survey. You can click on the “Community Needs Survey” tab for direct access to this survey.

Feel free to share this survey with family and friends in the Stromsburg community. The more responses we receive, the better information we will have.

Silent Auction Begins on Monday

The library would like to thank the Stromsburg Public Library Foundation for the gift of four new conference tables for the meeting room. These lightweight tables move on rollers and can easily be folded up when not in use. We change out the meeting room many times a week and these tables will make that job much easier. Thank you for supporting the library and the community with this gift!

Due to this purchase and other future and past purchases the library will be selling surplus equipment March 26 – April 6 on a silent auction. Items can be viewed at the City office or at the library during hours. Bidding will take place at the library during open hours.  Winners of items will be notified on Monday, April 9 and all items must be paid for and picked up from the library by closing on Friday, April 13.

Items for sale include a trapezoid computer table, four 72” x 30” conference tables, 10’ x 4’ reference table with chairs, a 3 shelf book case, circular stand, and 19 plastic molded chairs with metal legs.

Book Review: “The Dry” by Jane Harper

Aaron Falk is back in the town he was run out of at the age of 16 for a crime he didn’t commit. He’s not here because it’s his best friends funeral, he’s here because someone knows their secret and told him to come.

Is the murder of Luke, his wife and son what it looks like? Are the deaths connected to the death of their friend, Ellie, 20 years ago? What happens when four friends are now down to two?

Because I read book 2, Force of Nature, first, I was already invested in the character of Aaron Falk and wanted to know what happened in his past. This book did not disappoint. The current crime is investigated by Aaron and the local law enforcement while vignettes from the past are mixed in. You do eventually find out what happened with Ellie and it’s not what you think at all.

I also highly recommend Force of Nature in my review on goodreads.com. ~Monica
