I’m going to be talking to you about reading.  I’m going to tell you that libraries are important.  I’m going to suggest that reading fiction, that reading for pleasure, is one of the most important things one can do.  I’m going to make an impassioned plea for people to understand what libraries and librarians are, and to preserve both of these things.

Click on the link below for more of this wonderful lecture given by Neil Gaiman.  “We have an obligation to imagine”…He gives The Reading Agency annual lecture on the future of reading and libraries with a focus on young people.

Have you ever thought of joining up a book club? October is National Reading Group Month, and we are looking forward to starting up a book club or two!
There are so many advantages to being a part of a book club! You may end up reading books you normally wouldn’t pick up, you will be a part of interesting discussions, you may even get to know a few people you wouldn’t normally wouldn’t have the opportunity to!
Sound good? Let us know if you are interested! Message us on our library’s facebook page, call us at 745-1589, or stop in!

The winners for the ‘Get a Library Card’ drawing were Samantha Kusek and Todd Schneider! They each received a $20 Chamber Cash certificate. We have had several NEW patrons come into the library during the month of September. We love giving out new library cards!

Please excuse the mess during the month of October! We have gotten new bookshelves in our library and are rearranging our collection to better suit your needs. Be patient with us! Hopefully the library will be more conveniently situated when we are completed. Thank you.
