Preschool Kids Get Introduced to the Library

On April 12th and April 15th, the Leap into Learning Preschool morning and afternoon classes took time from their busy schedules to become introduced to the library.  What an exciting adventure, to walk into a room full of books and materials that you can borrow at your leisure!  The children were seated on the floor of the children’s section while the librarians, Miss Jennifer or Mrs. Paider (depending on the day), spoke about the many aspects of a library.  They talked about what a library is, what you can do in a library, what you cannot do in a library, what you need in order to borrow materials, why you need to be careful of the books you borrow from the library, and many other informative library facts.

The book ‘Curious George Visits the Library’ by Margret & H.A. Rey was read to the children.  It is a fun story where George finds out on his own how amazing the library can be.  He finds so many books that he wishes to read, he piles them up higher and higher, and you can probably guess what happens when the pile becomes too high!

The children then were able to make their very own monkey face masks. They also were able to color their very own Curious George bookmarks to take home with them.

We hope to see these young faces again very soon, hopefully the children will bring in their parent or other adult in with them to check out books and begin to nurture a life-long love of reading.  We very much enjoyed the experience and think they did too!
