Crane River Theater Coming to the Library on June 25th!

From the Crane River Theater:
The arts bring us joy in every aspect of our lives. Crane River Theater wishes to be an outlet for that artistic expression. Our mission is to serve the communities of Central Nebraska as a professional theater production company providing a home for the presentation, education and promotion of the arts. We are excited to bring professional artists from across the country, thus allowing Central Nebraska to become a destination for theater, music and dance.

Encouraging the creativity of our youth is essential. Crane River Theater is excited to offer Page to Stage, a library outreach program for youth. Shrek, Donkey, Princess Fiona and other fairy-tale characters from our upcoming production of Shrek, The Musical will read, perform and interact with kids as they share these famous stories. Allowing children the opportunity to see the characters jump from the page to the stage and the words come to life before their very own eyes is truly invaluable. Crane River Theater will bring Page to Stage to Loup City on Wednesday, June 25th at the Library from 1:30pm to 2:30pm.

Preschool Kids Get Introduced to the Library

On April 12th and April 15th, the Leap into Learning Preschool morning and afternoon classes took time from their busy schedules to become introduced to the library.  What an exciting adventure, to walk into a room full of books and materials that you can borrow at your leisure!  The children were seated on the floor of the children’s section while the librarians, Miss Jennifer or Mrs. Paider (depending on the day), spoke about the many aspects of a library.  They talked about what a library is, what you can do in a library, what you cannot do in a library, what you need in order to borrow materials, why you need to be careful of the books you borrow from the library, and many other informative library facts.

The book ‘Curious George Visits the Library’ by Margret & H.A. Rey was read to the children.  It is a fun story where George finds out on his own how amazing the library can be.  He finds so many books that he wishes to read, he piles them up higher and higher, and you can probably guess what happens when the pile becomes too high!

The children then were able to make their very own monkey face masks. They also were able to color their very own Curious George bookmarks to take home with them.

We hope to see these young faces again very soon, hopefully the children will bring in their parent or other adult in with them to check out books and begin to nurture a life-long love of reading.  We very much enjoyed the experience and think they did too!
