New books are Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger, Missing You by Harlan Coben, Gemini by Carol Cassella, The Boob Girls by Joy Johnson, and Kinder Than Solitude by Yiyun Li. New large print books are The Whole Golden World by Kristina Riggle and You Knew Me When by Emily Liebert. We also have 6 new audio CDs and three new Nancy Clancy chapter books for children by Jane O’Connor.
The Elgin Public Library has received a $3,275 grant funded by the Kreutz Bennett Donor-Advised Fund, an affiliated fund of the Nebraska Community Foundation. The Fund provides support to public libraries located in Nebraska communities with populations under 3,000. The money will be matched by the Elgin Library Foundation, and it will be used to purchase microfilm of the Elgin Review, digitize 50 reels of microfilm, and purchase a searchable external hard drive.
In March we are reading Cry, the Beloved Country by Alan Paton. We will meet to discuss it on Wednesday, March 26 at 4:00.
On Friday, February 28, Greg Tharnish stirred up the names of those entered in our reading contest (615 books read). Wayne Ives drew out the winning name, Marilyn Reilly! Congratulations to Marilyn! Our Library Foundation raised $840 with this contest! The money will be used to purchase newspaper microfilm and possible start digitization of our oldest newspapers!
